Thrifty Moms Marketplace Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Thrifty Moms Marketplace (“the Marketplace,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), including our website, mobile experience, community features, and any services we provide. By creating an account, browsing listings, renting items, purchasing items, or otherwise using the Marketplace, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Marketplace.

1. About Thrifty Moms Marketplace

Thrifty Moms Marketplace is a peer‑to‑peer community where individuals—Sellers, Buyers, Owners, Renters, and Service Providers—can list, sell, rent, or purchase goods, rental spaces, and professional services. We supply the platform, secure payment processing through Stripe and other third‑party providers, and community‑driven tools. However, we do not own, inspect, manufacture, or guarantee any items or services offered on the Marketplace. We are not a retailer, distributor, rental company, or advertising agency. All transactions take place directly between users.

2. Eligibility

To use the Marketplace, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old, or use the Marketplace under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who creates and manages the account.

  • Create an account with accurate information.

  • Have the legal capacity to enter into contracts.

  • Comply with all applicable laws and these Terms.


Minors (Under 18).

If you are under 18, you may use the Marketplace only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who:

  • Creates the account.

  • Manages the account.

  • Accepts these Terms on your behalf.

  • Is legally responsible for all activity, transactions, communications, purchases, sales, rentals, and disputes associated with the account.

Minors may not independently enter binding sales, rental, or payment agreements on the Marketplace. We may refuse service, close accounts, or restrict access at our discretion.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

  • All activity that occurs under your account.

  • Updating your information when necessary.

You may not:

  • Create accounts using false information.

  • Impersonate another person.

  • Create multiple accounts to evade restrictions.

4. Marketplace Role and Limitations

Thrifty Moms Marketplace:

  • Provides a platform for users to connect.

  • Facilitates payments through Stripe and other third-party processors.

  • Offers communication tools.

  • Provides community guidelines and moderation.

  • Does not set refund or return policies.

  • Does not guarantee item condition, safety, or authenticity.

  • Does not mediate disputes except in cases of fraud or policy violations.

Users are solely responsible for their listings, transactions, and interactions.

5. Listings and Item Standards

Sellers and Owners must ensure that all listings:

  • Are accurate, truthful, and not misleading.

  • Include clear photos and descriptions.

  • Disclose defects, wear, or damage.

  • Follow all measurement and advertising guidelines when applicable.

  • Include the Seller’s refund and return policy.

  • Comply with prohibited‑item rules.

We may remove or edit listings that violate Marketplace policies.

6. Prohibited Items

Users may not list:

  • Weapons.

  • Hazardous materials.

  • Recalled items.

  • Counterfeit goods.

  • Stolen property.

  • Items prohibited by law.

  • Items that pose unreasonable safety risks.​

  • False advertising.

We may update this list at any time.

7. Purchases

When a Buyer purchases an item:

  • The Buyer agrees to the Seller’s refund and return policy.

  • The Seller is responsible for shipping and delivery.

  • The Marketplace is not responsible for item condition, delivery delays, or disputes.

  • Payment is processed through Stripe and released to the Seller according to Stripe’s schedule.

  • Chargebacks may result in account review or suspension.

8. Rentals

When renting an item:

  • The Owner must provide accurate rental details.

  • The Renter must return the item on time and in the same condition.

  • Damage, loss, or late returns may result in additional charges.

  • Owners may set cleaning, deposit, or late‑fee rules.

  • The Marketplace is not responsible for rental disputes or damages.

9. Refunds and Returns

Thrifty Moms Marketplace does not set or enforce refund or return policies.

  • Each Seller must clearly state their refund and return policy in the listing.

  • Buyers must review the policy before purchasing.

  • Refunds, returns, and exchanges are handled directly between Buyer and Seller.

The Marketplace may intervene only in cases of fraud or policy violations.
A separate Refunds and Returns Agreement Policy governs specific refunds and returns rules.

10. Payments and Fees

Payments are processed through Stripe.

  • Marketplace sellers receive payouts according to Stripe’s schedule.

  • Marketplace fees, when applicable, are disclosed at checkout or in Seller documentation.

  • Chargebacks may result in account suspension.

  • Users agree to Stripe’s terms of service when transacting on the Marketplace.

We may update fees at any time with notice.

11. Business and Professional Service Advertisers
Business and professional service providers using Thrifty Moms Marketplace must comply with all applicable federal and state advertising laws, including FTC truth‑in‑advertising rules, state consumer protection statutes, and any industry‑specific regulations governing their profession. Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that all claims, descriptions, pricing, qualifications, testimonials, and promotional materials are accurate, substantiated, non‑deceptive, and clearly disclosed. This includes providing required disclosures for material connections, endorsements, refund policies, subscription terms, and any limitations or conditions associated with the service. Advertisers must also comply with privacy, data‑handling, and communication laws when interacting with users, including CAN‑SPAM requirements for commercial messages and state privacy laws governing the collection or use of consumer information. Thrifty Moms Marketplace does not review, verify, or guarantee any advertised service and may remove or suspend listings that violate legal requirements or platform policies.

12. Community Standards

Users must follow all community rules, including:

  • Respectful communication

  • No harassment, hate speech, or abusive behavior

  • No spam or scams

  • No misleading content

  • No posting prohibited items

Violations may result in account suspension or removal.

13. Intellectual Property

Users retain ownership of their content. Users grant the Marketplace a license to:

  • Display content

  • Host content

  • Modify content for formatting

  • Promote listings within the platform

Users may not upload copyrighted or stolen content.

14. Disputes Between Users

  • Thrifty Moms Marketplace is not responsible for disputes between:

  • Buyers and Sellers

  • Renters and Owners.

  • Business Advertisers & Consumers

  • Community Members

We may assist at our discretion in cases involving fraud, safety concerns, or policy violations.

15. Marketplace Rights

We may:

  • Modify or remove content.

  • Suspend or terminate accounts.

  • Change platform features.

  • Update policies.

  • Restrict access.

  • Enforce rules at our discretion.

We may update these Terms at any time.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The Marketplace is not liable for item defects, damages, injuries, losses, or disputes.

  • We do not guarantee the quality, safety, or accuracy of items.

  • We are not responsible for user behavior or interactions.

  • Your use of the Marketplace is at your own risk.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Thrifty Moms Marketplace from claims arising out of:

  • Your listings

  • Your transactions

  • Your interactions

  • Your violations of these Terms

  • Your misuse of the Marketplace

18. Community Use and Participation

Thrifty Moms Marketplace provides community features designed to support connection, communication, and engagement among members. These features may include social feeds, posts, comments, likes, groups, discussions, messaging, and other interactive tools.

By using the community features, you agree to the following:

  • You will communicate respectfully.

  • You will not engage in harassment, bullying, hate speech, or abusive behavior.

  • You will not post spam, scams, misleading content, or advertisements unrelated to Marketplace activity.

  • You will not share prohibited items, unsafe content, or illegal material.

  • You will not impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity.

  • You will not post content that infringes on intellectual property rights.

  • You will follow all group rules, moderator instructions, and community guidelines.

  • You will not use the community features to coordinate off‑platform transactions intended to bypass Marketplace protections.

  • You will not post personal information that compromises your safety or the safety of others.

  • You acknowledge that all community content may be moderated, removed, or restricted at our discretion.

Thrifty Moms Marketplace may suspend or terminate community access for violations of these rules. We may also limit features, remove posts, restrict accounts, or take other actions necessary to maintain a safe and positive environment.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict‑of‑law principles.
